The courses are specifically created for children who have never learned to speak or understand Swedish, but who can read and write in their school language. <\/p>\n<p>The course can be completed in two ways:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>distance learning in a group with a teacher (online)<\/li>\n<li>private instruction in a small group (1\u20133 students)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The course focuses on helping students build vocabulary and gain an understanding of the language and its structure. The course is designed so that students recognize themselves and their Swedish cultural background. <\/p>\n<p>Beginner courses Level 1 and 2 in Swedish for children aged 7-9 are two courses for children who can read and write in their school language(s) and who have a Swedish or Finland-Swedish connection through a parent or another close family member. It requires no prior knowledge, but the child must be able to speak and understand English, French, or Spanish.<\/p>\n<p>We have two course levels:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Step 1, beginner Swedish for lower elementary, intended for students who are completely new to the SMUL Academy and who do not speak Swedish with anyone in the family.<\/li>\n<li>Step 2, beginner Swedish for lower elementary, intended for students who have already studied for one year at the SMUL Academy or have equivalent knowledge.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If there is a Swedish-speaking family member, we strongly encourage them to try to speak more Swedish with the student while they are studying at the SMUL Academy. .
