Louise Sverud - School Administrator<\/h4>

Louise is the school administrator at SMUL Academy. She lives in Lanzarote, Spain, where she runs her own business as a virtual assistant. Louise holds a bachelor's degree in communication and multilingualism from Malm\u00f6 University, as well as a master's degree in psychology, media, and communication from Lund University. Previously, Louise founded and ran the Swedish School in Lanzarote for 8 years. <\/p>\n

Karolin Eriksson - Principal<\/h4>

Karolin Eriksson is the principal of SMUL Academy and is based in Barcelona with her family. She is a qualified teacher and has completed the principal training program at Stockholm University. <\/p>\n

With many years of experience in teaching and school leadership, she leads development work with a focus on students, teachers, and operations. Karolin is passionate about giving students around the world the opportunity to develop and maintain their Swedish language skills. <\/p>\n

Maria Diemar<\/h4>

Maria Diemar, a teacher at SMUL Academy since the fall semester of 2017, lives in Texas with her husband and youngest son. She is trained at the Teacher Training College in Stockholm, is a teacher of Swedish as a second language and Spanish, and has experience working in secondary and upper secondary schools in Sweden as well as Swedish for immigrants at Komvux. Maria has lived abroad for 15 years and has worked at the Swedish School in Dallas and the Swedish School in Melbourne. <\/p>\n

At SMUL Academy, Maria works to motivate and inspire children and young people to want to read and learn more Swedish. Maria has also developed SMUL's own teaching material V\u00e5r svenska, which can be ordered free of charge from SMUL Academy. <\/p>\n

Malin Possbeck<\/h4>

Malin lives in West Kelowna, Canada, with her husband, daughter, and dog. She is a qualified F-3 teacher from Linnaeus University in Kalmar and has studied Swedish as a second language (grammar and literacy development) through the University West. <\/p>\n

Malin is passionate about sparking curiosity, creating joyful learning, and building secure relationships with students!<\/p>\n

Annika Lindh Cully<\/h4>

Annika Lindh Cully is a middle and secondary school teacher in Swedish, English, and social studies with a degree from Uppsala University. Annika has experience working at several secondary schools in Uppsala and Stockholm. Annika lives in Calgary, Canada, with her husband and three children, where she also teaches the upper secondary class in complementary Swedish. During her 13 years in Calgary, she has taught middle, secondary, and upper secondary classes. <\/p>\n

Anna Samrud<\/h4>

Anna has many years of experience teaching at upper secondary schools in Sweden, and during her more than 10 years abroad, she has worked at the Swedish School in Dallas and has provided extensive private tutoring for children and young people, as well as adults.
Anna finds it a wonderful privilege of the teaching profession to inspire and support children and young people in their learning and to see them, based on their unique circumstances, develop in the Swedish language. Being able to master a language is a treasure, a joy, and a sense of community. <\/p>\n

Eva Cimino<\/h4>

Eva lives outside Paris. She has 3 adult children who have moved out. The children actively worked with Swedish during their upbringing, and Swedish has always been a living language in the home. Eva is a certified teacher in Swedish for grades F-6. She also has a preschool teacher degree from the Teacher Training College in S\u00f6dert\u00e4lje and is a trained Montessori teacher for younger children. Eva has worked for many years as a teacher at the Swedish School in Paris and also with complementary Swedish.
Eva enjoys following students' language development both orally and in writing. The lessons should also feel enjoyable and contribute to strengthening students' self-confidence. <\/p>\n

Mimmi Pinto<\/h4>

Mimmi Pinto was born and raised in Stockholm but lives and works in Buenos Aires. She received her teaching degree in 2021 and has over ten years of experience in the education system, including as a resource educator, leisure mentor, and teacher. She has both Swedish and mathematics as her favorite subjects. <\/p>\n

With roots in Argentina and a father born in the USA, she is trilingual and is passionate about awakening students' desire to learn through flexible and responsive teaching.<\/p>\n

\u00c5sa J\u00e4levik<\/h4>

\u00c5sa lives in \u00c5rsta in Stockholm and is a certified primary school teacher. She worked for twenty years in lower and middle primary school before completing 60 credits in Swedish as a second language at Stockholm University. She has now been working for 9 years at Komvux with Sfi (Swedish for immigrants). <\/p>\n

Language is \u00c5sa's great interest, and she is studying French herself. She also speaks English and a little German and Spanish. Motivating students to grow and develop through literature and conversation topics that open up interesting discussions are her best methods.
In the coming academic year, \u00c5sa is a substitute teacher and teaches private students. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

Anneli Sievert, Substitute Teacher<\/h4>

Anneli lives with her husband and two daughters in San Diego, California. She is a qualified teacher in mathematics\/science, English, and Swedish as a second language from Link\u00f6ping University. Before moving to the USA in 2012, Anneli worked as a middle school teacher in a multicultural suburb of Link\u00f6ping. During her years in the Bay Area, Anneli worked as a teacher at the Swedish School in Silicon Valley. She was also on the school's board from 2014-2021. Anneli grew up in a mill town in Sm\u00e5land with a Finnish father and a half-German mother. Being a second-generation immigrant, and now also an immigrant herself in the USA, has helped her understand the linguistic challenges that her own children and her students face. <\/span><\/p>\n
